Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony
Friday, December 12, 2014
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Ph.D. Hooding ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate our Ph.D. students with their advisors as they graduate from Georgia Tech. Tickets are not required to attend this event.
Ph.D. students will receive their doctoral hood and be hooded by their advisor or a college representative. Diplomas will still be distributed at the main Institute ceremony the following evening. Ph.D. students are encouraged, but not required, to attend and will have the opportunity to RSVP when they submit their Commencement RSVP.
An RSVP will be required for students to attend this event. Students who are unable to attend will receive their hood during line-up at the Institute ceremony that Friday evening. .
Information for Advisors:
Faculty members serving as an advisor are not required to submit an RSVP to the ceremony. We encourage faculty members to discuss with their student which ceremony or ceremonies they will attend Commencement weekend. Attending faculty will be seated with their student and are required to wear academic regalia. Additional information can be found on our faculty & staff page. Advisors may also contact the Commencement Office.
Guests will be able to utilize the same parking lots as we use for the Institute ceremony which include E52 (Peters Parking Deck) and E40 (Klaus Parking Deck). Additional information on venue parking can be found on our venue information page. No shuttle service will be available on Thursday evening.
