Summer Registration FAQ

Q: Why do you need my email address?

A: We recognize that not all students will continue to check their Georgia Tech email address after graduation. To ensure we have accurate contact information, we ask that interested students register their preferred email address with the Commencement Office. All information about the ceremony will be sent via email. 

Q: What if I don't know if I will be able to participate in Fall Commencement?

A: We suggest that students who are uncertain about their participation still register with the Commencement Office to ensure they receive information. Students who do not complete the form will be opted-out of Fall Commencement information emails.

Q: How will I sign-up for Fall Commencement guest tickets?

A: Summer graduates who complete the email registration form will receive a message in early September with Fall RSVP dates to indicate their commencement participation and request guest tickets. Ticket pick-up will take place at the Athletics Ticket Box Office in October.

Students not be in the Atlanta-area after graduation may select will call when requesting tickets to receive them at McCamish Pavilion the day of the ceremony. 

Q: I am moving out-of-state after graduation. How will I purchase my regalia?

A: Regalia is available for purchase during the summer semester for Fall Commencement. PhD candidates are urged to meet with the bookstore during summer semester to be measured for regalia. Bachelor's and Master's candidates may purchase regalia in-store or order online at techstuff.gatech.edu. 

Q: Am I still graduating this semester? 

A: Yes. The Institute will continue to award degrees for spring, summer, and fall semesters. The only difference is that Georgia Tech will produce its commencement ceremony following spring and fall semesters.

Active summer degree candidates who complete all the necessary requirements to graduate during the summer term will receive their diplomas six to eight weeks after the term’s completion.

Q: I would prefer to participate in a different ceremony. Can I do that?

A: Students must participate in the fall commencement ceremony immediately following summer semester. The Commencement Office is unable to permit any late walks beyond fall. 

Q: Will my name appear in the fall commencement program?

A: Yes. Summer graduates will be listed in the respective fall commencement program, with a special symbol denoting their summer graduation status.
